6 ways to reduce stress and stay calm:
We are living in a very uncertain and stressful time and many of us see stress as part of everyday life, but there are things we can do to reduce stress levels. If left unmanaged, stress can lead to health issues so it is so important to ensure you take time for yourself to heal and relax.
First of all, accept the things you cannot change! Consider whether the source of stress in your life is under your control? It is not always possible to change a difficult situation so try to focus on the things you can change.
Take time out: If your stress levels are affecting your health then you need to rest and recuperate, a short spell of rest and self-care is much better than the possibility of making yourself worse and becoming ill.
Get a massage: Massage can have wonderful effects on the mind and body. It’s amazing what a little me-time, pleasant sensations, relaxing music and aromatic smells can do for your stress levels. Find a good massage therapist and book yourself an appointment.
Try meditating: If you’ve never tried meditating before, try downloading an app to help guide you for your first few sessions. Sometimes just a 5 minute quite space with a little deep breathing and reflection is all you need to bring you back to yourself.
It’s good to talk: Sometimes it helps just to talk through a problem or worry with a friend to gain a different perspective and a little reassurance that everything is going to be OK.
