PDO Thread Therapy
Skin rejuvenation from the natural wound healing process
PDO THREAD AND FTC THERAPY.
PDO (Polydioxanone) Thread therapy is a technique used to lift and tighten sagging skin tissues, redefine facial contours and induce collagen production. Micro bio-compatible absorbable threads are inserted into the subcutaneous layer of the skin which are adjusted to create an adjustable support framework for the tissue in the treatment area, be it the jowls, mid face or brows. The resultant rejuvenating collagen synthesis creates a lifting effect which can last 2 -3 years and reaches a peak at 6 months when collagen has formed around the threads.
FTC therapy originated from the traditional thread-lift philosophy in western medicine as well as “threads-embedding therapy” in oriental acupuncture therapy to control and improve tissue stimulation and muscle contraction.
The product used for FTC is a fine needle (21G-30G) affixed to the absorbable thread (thickness of 0.05mm-0.40mm and length of 25mm-140mm).
A cannula is inserted into the subcutaneous layer of the skin, and when it is taken out, the threads remain implanted in the skin. Insertion of dozens of needles to the deeper layer of skin with absorbable threads activates their natural regenerative process and mechanical stimulation of wound healing and tissue contraction.
The most recent development in thread lifting has been the introduction of cog threads. A move away from the traditional monofilaments to barbed threads, this new shape induces higher chronic inflammatory reaction causing a higher rate of fibroblast conversion during the wound healing process. As a result, clients achieve longer lasting and more visible effects after one treatment.
The threads are 100% PDO (Polydioxanone), a clinically proven bio-compatible material that is already widely used in medical suturing.
WHAT IS FTC THERAPY
- An excellent and effective cosmetic technique to lift and tighten sagging skin tissues
- Re-defines facial contours and induces collagen production
- Lifting effect lasts for up to 2 – 3 years
- The thread will form an integrated support structure for the tissue of the face due to collagen synthesis
- The lifting effect is at its peak 6 months later when collagen has formed around the threads

I had been considering treatments like Dermal Fillers for quite a while and living in Newton Abbot I contacted the Beresford clinic. Feeling nervous I was immediately put at ease Jules was kind and patient answering all my questions and clearly knows her stuff! The whole process was explained fully by the Dr. and after taking my medical history I was happy to go ahead.
After the Dermal filler treatment I wondered why I was so apprehensive to begin with! WOW what a difference. My family and friends have complimented the noticeable difference and I couldn’t be happier.
